After Leadership Day
- If you know you are attending Leadership Day, please register as soon as possible. ACP asks that you register no later than April 1 if possible. They begin booking Congressional visits around the first of April.
- Make sure your address is up-to-date in your registration and ACP profile. All Congressional visits will be scheduled based on the address ACP has for you.
Watch your Email
Important information will be distributed to all attendees via email. Please make sure you:
- Check your email regularly for any updates from ACP or Soapbox (the scheduling company)
- If you are not receiving emails/registration confirmation, check your spam and add the email address to your safe list
- Make sure your email address with ACP is correct when registering. If it is not, you will need to log in to your ACP profile to update it.
- About a week before Leadership Day, you will receive an email from Soapbox or ACP with a link to access your schedule using a designated code. Keep this email, as you will need to refer back to it during Leadership Day.
- This initial schedule is only tentative and will be updated up to the day of the Congressional visits, and sometimes while you are on the Hill. Check the schedule regularly.
- ACP will email you links to the legislative issues that will be discussed while you are on the Hill. Be sure to read these in advance and:
- Familiarize yourself with the local landscape of your area/state on these issues. For example, is this something you are regularly seeing, are YOUR patients being impacted by these issues, etc.
- A story is worth more than a talking point. Congressional leaders can connect more deeply to an issue when they hear how it is directly impacting their constituents, and they are more likely to remember a patient, hospital, or clinic story than a statistic. Start thinking about the stories you can share as you read the handouts.
DC Delegation and Leader
- DC will have several attendees from our Chapter.
- A chapter leader will be designated to be the point person for the DC delegation.
- This event is a time to meet others in the DC area, and we hope you will take advantage of the connections being provided.
After Leadership Day
- Stay connected with those who attended with you and join AIM if you are not already a member and stay connected with the key legislative issues.
- Plan to attend again in the future!
