DC ACP Lean In Circles

DC ACP Lean In Circles for Women in Medicine
The National ACP has partnered with the Women at Work Collection to provide the Lean In program to our members. The DC ACP leadership and Women in Medicine/Wellness committee is taking lead on developing this opportunity within our chapter as a way for you to participate in this program.

What are Lean In Circles
Lean In Circles are a leadership program designed specifically for women by women. This program provides a leadership curriculum with the power of women coming together for collective learning, growth, and support. Learn how to overcome self-doubt, become a transformational leader, and other critical professional development skills - all at no cost to you.

What to expect
Expect to regularly participate in this program for 6-7 months in 2024. Each session will be 60-75 minutes depending on interactions and number of attendees.

Participate in discussions on topics such as:
  • Becoming a transformational leader
  • How to get recognition you deserve at work
  • How to make assertiveness work for you
  • How to negotiate as a women and get what you ask for
  • How to find sponsors who'll accelerate your career
Our first call of the group, to discuss more about the group and dates and times of calls will be on May 21, 7 PM ET. A Zoom invitation will be sent closer to the event date to all who sign up at the link below.

Why participate
  • Do this for YOU. This is a wonderful opportunity to take time for YOU and build a network of peers outside your hospital/organization, yet in your community.
  • Connection is key to success and happiness. This is a great way to connect with others that you may not know, and have a lot in common with.
  • Give and receive peer-to-peer mentorship, support and validation to one another.
  • As working women, we continue to face barriers and bias that men do not face.
  • But despite immense challenges, we have been rising to the top.
  • There are research-backed ways we can take to help ourselves overcome bias, develop new leadership skills and thrive in our jobs and lives.
